Okonomiyaki restaurant 01

I introduce one of my favorite Okonomiyaki restaurant near KGU.

The name is "Mabo",「マーボー」in Japanese, Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki.
Prices are not so expensive and the restaurant has a menu for students.

Yesterday, I went there with my friends for dinner.
I ordered "Gakuwari-Soba" means Okonomiyaki discounted for students and a mini pork bowl.

I think people who have never been here feel this Okonomiyaki is large.
In addition, amazing, we can choose the size; medium, large, double.

It takes about 15 to 20 min. to finish making, but
 it's tasty.
When we eat, we can put mayonnaise and powdered garlic and the combination is great.

Sightseeing with international students.

I went to Miso-Tenjin with my friends and international students yesterday. I was nervous because I had never experienced to go sightseeing with them, but it was the good opportunity to get friendly with them.

At first, we went to Zehou shrine in Oe. I don't know the history well, but I thought it was a typical Japanese shrine. I explained some manner; how to pray, wash their hands, tie a paper fortune. International students were interested in a paper fortune very much, then I translated Japanese into English. Even if the Japanese take it, they shall pay attention to the contents, therefore, international students seemed to get interested in the result so much.

Second, we went to Miso-Tenjin shrine near Miso-Tenjin stop. This shrine has a long history and here is popular with the God of Miso
In 7C, here was a temple and Buddhist monks had Miso (Bean paste) for breakfast and dinner.
One day, they found that Miso spoiled. They became worried because Miso was an important food in those days. Then they prayed to the God to listen to the solutions. The God said, “Put some bamboo leaves into the case full with spoiled Miso”. Then monks did so, and the spoiled Miso got tasty Miso. So now, people have believed that the God of Miso exists in this shrine since the old time.

Finally, before going back to the university, we visited a good pudding shop. We were glad to buy delicious puddings here. As Kumamoto city has many kinds of restaurants and shops, I think international student will visit other nice places in the days ahead. They have enough time to do so, I hope they spend their wonderful time in Japan.

I had our lunch at Ouchi-Cafe near the university. The appearance is nice and the dishes are tasty, but I forgot taking pictures of the lunch. I'm sorry. ;(

Yesterday was very windy and rainy day, but I had a good time with them all the day.

My hometown "Nankan"

My hometown is "Nankan" which is located at the north area in Kumamoto. The population is about 12,000 and the half of the people are over 65. In short, Nankan is a households with elderly persons. Of course, there are some facilities for elderly people.
But, here is a good place to live because there are much nature. In fact, my house is surrounded by a forest. I can always see rice fields and birds. That's beautiful.
Moreover, the food of Nankan is also popular and tasty. Nankan Age, for example, is often used for a ingredient of Miso-soup and a laver of Sushi. The unique point of this is to absorb soup well, so it gets very juicy.

Other good places in Nankan are Ukara-Kan and a vacant lot of an old tea house.

Uraka-Kan is a hot-spring facility and the local people, in particular elderly people, visit there and have a relaxing time in the bath.

There are many hot springs not only Nankan but also other places, so I'll show you other spas.

A vacant lot of an old tea house called "Otya-ya-ato" is a historical place. In present day, it was repaired and looks new, but the original one was built in 1852.

Daimyo, Samurai, even the local people visited there to have a brake. In those days, Japan was in Edo era, then all Daimyo must go to Edo to greet the tycoon (Iesada Tokugawa) at the beginning of the new year. It was annual event (Sankin-kotai).

On the way to Edo, they often stayed there as a resting-place because it took about 10 days to go.

Today, after the repairing of the building, insteresting events hold there and people come to see.

I want to write information more, but that's all for today.

See you again.
